Twip.me is all about getting Twitter to your favorite IM client. You will receive all your friends’ updates and direct messages right in your IM window and you will also be able to send tweets or DMs. Twip.me currently works with Yahoo Messenger, Windows Messenger and Jabber/Gtalk.

To use Twip.me you need to register with them and then use a particular format for forming messages that are sent to Twitter.
